In a first of its kind collaboration between Israeli Defense Forces and a government hospital, Galilee Medical Center participated in a unique drill with the IDF Field Hospital. This advanced preparedness drill looked at a major disaster that would require the external support of military intervention in the event that a general hospital would be overwhelmed by a major disaster. With hospital-wide cooperation, this important exercise included scenarios of parallel casualty intake by the Galilee Medical Center and the Field Hospital with constant coordination between the military and civilian authorities of both.

In addition to greatly expanding the care facilities of Galilee Medical Center with the cooperation of the IDF Field Hospital, additional operating theaters and intensive care units were integrated. The multiple day effort and cooperation of both hospitals ensure that regardless of the extreme difficulties in providing care in a time of national crisis; Galilee medical Center will continue to operate on the frontline of medicine in Israel’s north.
