New life at GMC in the new year! The Jewish New Year 5778 began with 11 babies (6 boys and 5 girls) born in the first 14 hours at Galilee Medical Center. Last year 5,300 babies were born in our 12 delivery rooms including one set of triplets and 113 pairs of twins. Just before the end of the year, there were a record 27 births in one day.
Yulia Kares from Kibbutz Shomrat in the Galilee gave birth to her first child, a baby girl weighing 6.5 lbs. As Yulia held her daughter in her arms surrounded by the Maternity Department’s staff members, she thanked them for their warmth and support and exclaimed that “Giving birth is an exciting way to bring in the New Year. Best wishes to all the other new mothers for a successful, happy year filled with good things.”
